چکیده

Capturability of a robot determines whether it is able to capture a robot within a number of steps. Current capturability analysis is based on stance leg dynamics, without taking adequate consideration on swing leg. In this paper, we combine capturability-based analysis with swing leg dynamics. We first associate original definition of capturability with a timemargin, which encodes a time sequence that can capture the robot. This time-margin capturability requires consideration of swing leg, and we therefore introduce a swing leg kernel that acts as a bridge between step time and step length. We analyze N -step capturability with a combined model of swing leg kernels and a linear inverted pendulum model. By analyzing swing leg kernels with different parameters, we find that more powerful actuation and longer normalized step length result in greater capturability. We also answer the question whether more steps would give greater capturability. For a given disturbance, we find a step sequence that minimizes actuation. This step sequence is whether a step time sequence or a step length sequence, and this classification is based on boundary value problem analysis.

Kinematic and Gait Analysis Implementation of an Experimental Radially Symmetric Six-Legged Walking Robot

As a robot could be stable statically standing on three or more legs, a six legged walking robot can be highly flexible in movements and perform different missions without dealing with serious kinematic and dynamic problems. An experimental six legged walking robot with 18 degrees of freedom is studied and built in this paper. The kinematic and gait analysis formulations are demonstrated by an e...

Capturability-based analysis and control of legged locomotion, Part 2: Application to M2V2, a lower-body humanoid

This two-part paper discusses the analysis and control of legged locomotion in terms of N -step capturability: the ability of a legged system to come to a stop without falling by taking N or fewer steps. We consider this ability to be crucial to legged locomotion and a useful, yet not overly restrictive criterion for stability. Part 1 introduced the N -step capturability framework and showed ho...

Energy Dissipation Rate Control Via a Semi-Analytical Pattern Generation Approach for Planar Three-Legged Galloping Robot based on the Property of Passive Dynamic Walking

In this paper an Energy Dissipation Rate Control (EDRC) method is introduced, which could provide stable walking or running gaits for legged robots. This method is realized by developing a semi-analytical pattern generation approach for a robot during each Single Support Phase (SSP). As yet, several control methods based on passive dynamic walking have been proposed by researchers to provide an...

Stiffness control of a legged robot equipped with a serial manipulator in stance phase

The ability to perform different tasks by a serial manipulator mounted on legged robots, increases the capabilities of the robot. The position/force control problem of such a robot in the stance phase with point contacts on the ground is investigated here. A target plane with known stiffness is specified in the workspace. Active joints of the legs and serial manipulator are used to exert the de...
